We have a robust academic success program here at ONU. it starts from before students start here through passing the bar exam. We send them tips on how to do well in law school when they receive their letter of acceptance. We continue that support throughout their academic career at ONU. The academic support team also works with those who would like to work individually on their test taking, their studies skills, to help them do better.

The point of law school is to really prepare you for the bar exam. It's not about the rules-- it's about how to write these things. They have their own codes, too. And then that carries into your first year, where you have TA sessions, so your teachers give you hypo practice problems, so you have ample opportunity to help prepare yourself to how to answer these essay questions, because it is a completely different way of testing.

We have a program called Succeed, which is a TA-led academic success program. It's led by students who have done well in the professor's class. They meet with students to help them with their test taking skills. They do practice exams with them that the professor provides. That way, students get some feedback right away.

The Summer Starter program is for students who have a low LSAT and a high GPA, but then you've got people like me who don't standardized test well, and ONU's the only one that listened. They gave me the opportunity, they gave me everything that I needed to prepare myself to be the law student I knew I could be. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I wouldn't change that summer for anything.
